Sun Sep 15 03:54:32 UTC 2024: ## Super Plastronics Eyes Audio Segment with Kodak Brand
Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SPPL), the brand licensee for global names like Kodak, Thomson, and Blaupunkt, is expanding its reach into new product categories. The company, already well-established in the LED TV market and having recently entered the air cooler market, is now targeting the audio segment.
SPPL CEO Avneet Singh Marwah announced that the company plans to launch Kodak-branded speakers and soundbars later this year. Marwah highlighted the growing consumer demand for enhanced audio experiences, particularly in conjunction with television viewing. He expects the audio segment to contribute around 5% of the company’s total revenue within the next two years.
SPPL is also aggressively expanding Kodak’s offline presence. The company is actively establishing new distribution partnerships and entering new states on a monthly basis. They aim to have over 30,000 Kodak retail counters nationwide by year’s end.
This move comes as the loudspeaker segment, particularly soundbars, experiences robust growth. According to GfK data, the segment saw a 24% year-on-year volume increase in the year ending June 2024, reaching a market value of ₹1100 crore. GfK attributes this growth to the increasing popularity of soundbars among tech-savvy millennials and Gen Z consumers.
The study further reveals that demand for loudspeakers is expanding beyond major cities, into smaller towns and cities. Notably, the South Zone, with cities like Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad, is emerging as a key market for loudspeaker sales, with large retail chains accounting for 70% of the sales in the region.
