Sun Sep 15 14:46:34 UTC 2024: ## Dystopian Dreams Meet Real-World Solutions: Michael Stewart Wins LVMH Prize

London – Michael Stewart, creative director of the brand Standing Ground, has been making waves in the fashion world. The young designer recently took home the inaugural Savoir-Faire Prize at the 2024 LVMH Prize, a prestigious award that comes with a €200,000 grant and a year-long mentorship. Stewart’s ambitions for the prize money are clear: “I want to improve the work and spend the prize money on developing the brand further so that I can elevate the work,” he stated backstage after his debut London Fashion Week show.

Despite working with a modest budget, Stewart managed to transport his audience into a captivating dystopian world with his latest collection. The show, held atop 180 Strand, featured an array of stunning, futuristic garments, including statuesque gowns in luxurious velvet, designs incorporating silicone beads, and leather bomber jackets paired with face-covering dresses.

Stewart’s designs not only offer a unique visual aesthetic but also demonstrate a commitment to practicality. His creations feature leather shields to protect the chest, velvet hooded dresses for concealment, and sheer garments layered over hand-beaded underwear, providing both style and function. As Stewart himself stated, “I really wanted to make sure that I was showing a development of the work and that my designs were moving on and improving. I want to be solving problems and offering different things to different people that I didn’t offer before.”

With just 22 looks, Stewart showcased a breadth of fashion possibilities, proving that he is a designer to watch in the years to come. His ability to blend dystopian dreams with real-world solutions makes him a truly unique voice in the fashion industry.
