Sun Sep 15 12:06:23 UTC 2024: ## Beluga Whale’s Death: Autopsy Reveals No Evidence of Shooting

**Stavanger, Norway** – The mystery surrounding the death of Hvaldimir, a famous Beluga whale found dead off the coast of Stavanger on August 31, has taken a turn. While animal rights group OneWhale claimed a bullet hole was found on the whale’s body, an autopsy conducted by the Veterinary Institute has revealed no evidence to support this claim.

“There are no findings from the autopsy that indicate that Hvaldimir has been shot,” said Amund Preede Revheim, head of the North Sea environmental section with the investigative unit of the police in Stavanger.

The autopsy showed that visible wounds on the whale’s skin, previously reported by media, were “completely superficial” and did not affect vital organs. An X-ray of the whale revealed no projectiles or evidence of gunshot wounds.

The autopsy also revealed that Hvaldimir’s stomach was empty and most of its organs had broken down. While the autopsy did not determine the cause of death, police stated that there was no evidence of human activity directly leading to Hvaldimir’s demise.

“Nothing in the investigations has been carried out to establish that it is human activity that has directly led to Hvaldimir’s death,” added Revheim.

The police investigation is ongoing. The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries continues to explore potential causes for the whale’s death, including possible poisoning or starvation.

Hvaldimir, known for his Russian origin and friendly demeanor, was a beloved figure in Norway. His death sparked global headlines and raised concerns about potential human involvement. The lack of evidence of foul play brings a measure of closure but also highlights the ongoing mystery surrounding the whale’s demise.
