Sun Sep 15 02:54:12 UTC 2024: ## Texas QB Quinn Ewers Injured in Win Over UTSA, Arch Manning Shines in Relief

**Austin, TX** – Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed that star quarterback Quinn Ewers suffered an oblique strain during Saturday’s 56-7 victory over the UTSA Roadrunners. While the severity of the injury is still unknown, Sarkisian emphasized that it’s not a structural or broken injury.

Ewers, who had been playing well prior to the injury, completed 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He appeared to be favoring his right hand early in the game, and the strain emerged after a non-contact play where he pointed to his stomach and took a knee.

With Ewers out, redshirt freshman and former top recruit Arch Manning stepped in and delivered a remarkable performance. Manning completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, including a 67-yard rushing touchdown.

The Longhorns, now 3-0 on the season, will face Louisiana-Monroe next week before opening SEC play against Mississippi State.

This injury adds another wrinkle to the Texas offense, forcing them to rely on their young backup quarterback, Manning, whose impressive performance has raised expectations for his future.
