**Ahmedabad, Gujarat:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Vande Metro service connecting Bhuj and Ahmedabad on Monday. This high-speed rail service is touted to revolutionize intercity travel in the country and boost the economy of Kutch region.
The Vande Metro, described as a “leap forward in commuter comfort,” will begin its inaugural run from Ahmedabad to Bhuj on September 17th, with the return journey commencing on September 18th. The train will operate daily except for Saturdays (Ahmedabad to Bhuj) and Sundays (Bhuj to Ahmedabad).
The Vande Metro boasts 12 air-conditioned coaches equipped with advanced features like automatic sliding doors, LED lighting, vacuum toilets, panoramic windows, CCTV, and phone charging facilities. It also prioritizes safety with KAVACH collision avoidance system, smoke/fire detection, and emergency lighting.
The train will cover the 360km distance between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in 5 hours and 45 minutes at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. It will make stops at nine stations, including Sabarmati, Chandlodiya, Viramgam, Dhrangadhra, Halvad, Samakhiali, Bhachau, Gandhidham, and Anjar, with a total journey cost of Rs 455.
The Vande Metro is designed with accessibility features like Divyangjan-friendly toilets, a fully sealed gangway, and meal service. It is expected to create jobs and stimulate tourism in the region.
**JNVST Class 6 Admissions Extended**
In other news, the registration deadline for JNVST Class 6 admissions for the academic session 2025-26 has been extended to September 23rd. Interested and eligible candidates can register on the official website. The eligibility criteria require the candidates to be born between May 1, 2013, and July 31, 2015. The entrance exam will be held in two phases on January 18th and April 12th, 2025.
