**Srinagar, September 15:** The Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre, commemorated the 57th Engineer’s Day on Friday, celebrating the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a renowned engineer and Bharat Ratna recipient. The event, held under the patronage of Er Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, highlighted the crucial role of engineers in fostering sustainable development and embracing cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

The Guest of Honour, Dr Sajad Hussain Din, Principal of SSM College of Engineering, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach between academia and industry to drive innovation in engineering education. He stressed the importance of integrating emerging technologies like AI into engineering solutions to address the challenges of modern society.

Prof M Arif Wani, from the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Kashmir, delivered a keynote presentation on the theme “Driving Sustainability with Engineering Solutions Embracing the Latest AI-Driven Technologies.” The event also featured presentations by leading engineers from various sectors, showcasing the practical applications of AI and smart technologies in engineering solutions.

The event saw a large turnout, including Executive Committee members of the IEI J&K State Centre, former Chief Engineers, corporate members, engineers, and academicians. The gathering served as a platform to discuss the evolving role of engineering in shaping a sustainable and technologically advanced future.
