Sun Sep 15 14:19:49 UTC 2024: ## Indian Navy To Hold High-Level Security Review Amidst Regional Instability
**New Delhi, September 16:** The Indian Navy will hold a four-day conference starting Tuesday, September 17, to assess the security situation in and around the country. The meeting comes at a time of heightened regional instability, with concerns ranging from extremist groups in Bangladesh to increased Chinese activity in the region.
The conference, the first since Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi assumed command in April, will be held at the new Naval Headquarters in Delhi. Key topics of discussion include:
* **Bangladesh’s Shifting Political Landscape:** The recent regime change in Bangladesh and the rise of extremist radical groups there have raised concerns about potential security implications for India.
* **China’s Growing Influence:** The increasing Chinese military support to Pakistan and growing Chinese activity in the region are also expected to be high on the agenda.
* **Review of Operations:** The Navy will specifically review its operations in the Gulf of Aden, where it has successfully countered pirate activity and drone attacks earlier this year.
* **Creation of New Theater Commands:** The meeting will also discuss the creation of new theater commands, a move aimed at streamlining the Indian military’s operational capabilities.
The conference is a direct response to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent call for the armed forces to maintain readiness for any unexpected situation. Admiral Tripathi has instructed all commanders to remain at high operational preparedness at all times.
This biannual gathering provides a platform for senior naval officers to share insights, present strategies, and ensure a unified approach to maintaining India’s maritime security.
