Sun Sep 15 03:00:49 UTC 2024: ## Hume Council Pushes for Bulla Bypass Update, Calls for Faster Progress on Critical Infrastructure

**Sunbury, Victoria** – Hume City Council has formally requested an update from the Victorian government on the progress of the proposed Bulla Bypass project. Councillor Jarrod Bell’s motion, passed by council, calls for the government to provide details on design and costing work, along with anticipated timelines for the project.

The motion emphasizes the urgency of the bypass, citing the rapid growth in Sunbury and the increasing traffic congestion on Sunbury-Bulla Road, which currently sees over 25,000 vehicles daily. Councillor Bell highlighted the council’s commitment to ensuring the project remains a priority and does not fall off the agenda.

In response, Sunbury MP Josh Bull welcomed Hume’s advocacy for local roads and confirmed that Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) has finalized the business case for the bypass and submitted it to the Department of Transport and Planning. However, he acknowledged that securing significant capital funding for construction would require both state and federal government commitment. Mr. Bull assured the community that he will continue to advocate for the project.

The Department of Transport and Planning has been contacted for comment.
