Sun Sep 15 14:41:48 UTC 2024: ## Jets’ New Defensive Star Reddick Holds Out, Forfeiting Millions in Salary

New York Jets’ highly anticipated defensive addition, Haason Reddick, is set to miss his second game of the season as his contract holdout continues. Reddick, acquired by the Jets in April, has yet to sign a new contract and has been absent from the team since his arrival.

According to ESPN, Reddick will miss Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, losing another $800,000 in salary, bringing his total lost income this season to a staggering $8 million. This includes fines, unearned salary and bonus forfeiture.

If Reddick remains absent for the entire season, he could potentially lose up to $21.75 million, a combination of his $14.25 million base salary, $4.5 million in fines, and $3 million in bonus forfeiture.

While the length of the holdout remains uncertain, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that both parties are not close to a deal. The Jets are hoping to get their prized defensive player on the field soon, but the negotiations appear to be at a standstill.
