Sun Sep 15 15:32:00 UTC 2024: ## Four F1 Drivers Issued Warnings for Overtaking Under Virtual Safety Car

**Baku, Azerbaijan** – Max Verstappen was among four drivers given warnings by stewards for overtaking under Virtual Safety Car (VSC) conditions during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The other drivers receiving warnings were Nico Hulkenberg, Pierre Gasly, and Esteban Ocon.

The incident occurred after the chequered flag, while the VSC was still active following a crash involving Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz at Turn 2. Although overtaking after the chequered flag is generally permissible, it is forbidden under yellow flag, Safety Car, or Virtual Safety Car conditions.

The stewards acknowledged that the drivers were aware of the crash but could not have known if emergency personnel were being deployed onto the track. Therefore, they should have exercised caution and refrained from overtaking.

The four drivers were deemed to have breached Article 12.2.1 h) of the International Sporting Code and/or Article 56.6 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. While no further action was taken, the warnings serve as a reminder to all drivers of the importance of observing safety protocols during such situations.
