An innovative project combines art and technology, creating a vertical moss garden that doubles as a functional barometer and thermometer. Powered by a CLUE microcontroller, the garden uses a strip of NeoPixels to display changing colors based on real-time air pressure and temperature data.
The CLUE’s built-in weather sensors provide the data, allowing the garden to visually depict rising or falling pressure with five distinct light zones. The garden’s accompanying CLUE screen displays the current barometric pressure and the last two readings, enhancing its functionality.
The screen also features playful graphics: a hot air balloon for rising pressure and a submarine for sinking pressure. This interactive design allows for a simple and visually appealing understanding of atmospheric changes.
The project, detailed in a tutorial on Adafruit Learn, demonstrates the CLUE’s versatility and potential in creative applications. By seamlessly blending aesthetics and functionality, the moss garden offers a unique and engaging way to experience weather patterns.
