**Chachoengsao, Thailand** – Two Chinese men, Zhangjin (38) and Zhenghong (31), were arrested on Saturday at the Bangkok-Chon Buri Motorway rest area for allegedly using a remote jammer to steal valuables from parked cars.
Police were alerted to the crime following reports of frequent thefts at the rest area. Investigations revealed a group of Chinese men operating a sophisticated scheme. One gang member would distract motorists by pretending to have a phone conversation, while another used the jammer to prevent their car doors from locking. Distracted, victims would leave their cars unlocked, allowing the gang to easily access valuables and credit cards.
The suspects were apprehended while attempting to open the doors of two parked cars. Police seized a remote jammer, a shoulder bag, three mobile phones, a car key, and a car from the men.
A 20-year-old Thai woman, the girlfriend of Zhenghong, was also arrested on Sunday. She drove the suspects to the rest area and was found to have a quantity of ketamine in her condominium.
Police suspect the arrested men may be connected to a call scam gang. Zhangjin denied the charges, while Zhenghong confessed.
This incident serves as a reminder for motorists to be vigilant about their surroundings and ensure their vehicles are properly locked, especially in public areas.
