**Mumbai, India -** Kareena Kapoor’s much-anticipated thriller, “The Buckingham Murders,” opened in theaters on Friday, September 13th, earning a respectable start at the box office. The film, directed by Hansal Mehta, follows a grieving police officer, played by Kareena, who relocates to a new town after her child’s murder and finds herself investigating the disappearance of another child.
On its second day, “The Buckingham Murders” collected Rs. 1.90 crore in the domestic market, according to a report by Sacnilk. The film also features supporting roles from Ranveer Brar, Keith Allen, and Ash Tandon.
This marks Kareena Kapoor’s debut as a producer, with the film being a joint venture between Balaji Motion Pictures and Mahana Films.
The film’s marketing campaign successfully generated buzz, with the release of a new poster on September 6th showing Kareena in a somber mood, hinting at the thrilling chase for the truth.
Kareena, who is portraying Detective Jasmeet Bhamra, also known as Jass, explained her connection to the character at the trailer launch event. “I think a mother’s love has no language. It’s a feeling. I understand that a mother’s love has no specific language. It’s in her eyes – her love, her pain, you can see it in her eyes. That’s important. I think that is what connected me to the character… Somehow this just had so much soul in it that I felt that this was the right time for me to feel this character and to play it,” she shared.
“The Buckingham Murders” is available in two versions – Hinglish and a Hindi dubbed version – and is expected to continue its run in theaters.
