Sun Sep 15 11:07:04 UTC 2024: ## Chopra Competes with Hand Fracture, Finishes as Diamond League Runner-Up

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, the double Olympic medalist, competed in the Diamond League final on Saturday despite suffering a hand fracture during training earlier in the week. The 26-year-old revealed on social media that he fractured his fourth metacarpal in his left hand on Monday, but with the support of his team, he was able to participate in the competition in Brussels.

Chopra finished as runner-up, missing out on the Diamond League crown by a single centimeter with a throw of 87.86m. This is the second consecutive year he has taken second place in the final.

Despite not meeting his own expectations, Chopra considers the season a learning experience, noting that he has gained valuable insights into improvement, setbacks, and mental strength. He is now focused on recovering fully from both his hand injury and a pre-existing groin injury that hampered his performance throughout the year.

Chopra, who added a silver medal to his Olympic gold from Tokyo in the recent Paris Games, ends his season on a high, expressing gratitude for the support of his fans. He is looking forward to a fully fit return in 2025.
