**Chennai, India:** Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has declared his team’s ambition to win both Tests in the upcoming series against India, starting on September 19th in Chennai. The confident declaration comes on the heels of Bangladesh’s historic 2-0 whitewash of Pakistan in their first-ever Test series win on Pakistani soil.
While acknowledging the challenge posed by India, Shanto emphasized the newfound confidence in his team following their recent success. “It will be a challenging series, but we have the extra confidence from the Pakistan series,” he stated. “We want to win both Tests, but we have to stick to our process.”
Shanto further outlined Bangladesh’s goals for the tour, highlighting their determination to play competitively over five days. “They are well ahead of us in the rankings, but we did play well recently. We want to play well for five days, that’s our goal. We want to get the result in the last session of the Test match.”
He also expressed confidence in his team’s bowling attack, “We are in a good place with our bowling attack, both spin and pace. Perhaps our pacers are behind them in terms of experience, but our spin attack is close to theirs. They can bowl in any conditions.”
The second Test match will take place in Kanpur from September 27th. India, currently leading the World Test Championship standings, will face a series of tough tests in the coming months, including Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia.
The Bangladesh squad boasts a mix of experience and emerging talent, eager to make their mark against the Indian giants.
