**ISLAMABAD –** Pakistan has condemned the recent US sanctions imposed on Pakistani commercial entities for alleged connections to its ballistic missile program, calling the decision biased and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch argued that similar sanctions imposed in the past were based on mere suspicion and involved items not classified as restricted by any international export control regime.
She further stated that some countries, while claiming adherence to non-proliferation norms, often grant exemptions to their allies for advanced military technologies. These double standards and discriminatory practices, she warned, undermine the credibility of global non-proliferation regimes, exacerbate military imbalances, and threaten international peace and security.
Pakistan’s strong rebuke underscores its growing frustration with perceived double standards in US policy towards its nuclear program and highlights concerns about potential consequences for regional stability.
