**Kuala Lumpur, Sept 14:** Police have been investigating Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding (GISBH) since 2011, long before allegations of child exploitation and abuse went viral on social media recently, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain revealed today.
The IGP clarified that the recent raids on 20 care homes linked to GISBH, which led to the rescue of 402 children, were the culmination of six months of intelligence gathering and investigations. He stated that police received initial information from the Pusat Kajian Ajaran Sesat (Pukas) six months ago, prompting the reopening of investigations into existing police reports lodged against GISBH.
Further information came from a former GISBH member from Negeri Sembilan, who initially retracted a report she had filed. The woman later lodged a new report, leading to investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Razarudin emphasized that despite the long-standing investigations, police were only able to make arrests after receiving credible leads. He urged former GISBH members who had previously withdrawn their reports to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigations.
The raids on Wednesday (Sept 11) resulted in the rescue of 201 boys and 201 girls aged between one and 17 years, who were being held at the care homes. The police are actively investigating the alleged religious and child exploitation activities associated with the company.
