Sat Sep 14 04:16:00 UTC 2024: ## Rudder Rangers Roll Past Pflugerville Connally, Jessie Leads Explosive Offense

Rudder High School’s football team remains undefeated after a dominant 49-21 victory over Pflugerville Connally on Friday night. Quarterback Javyn Jessie was the catalyst for the Rangers’ offensive explosion, scoring six total touchdowns and leading the team to a 3-0 record, matching last season’s win total.

Jessie, a senior transfer from Navasota, showcased his versatility by scoring touchdowns in each quarter. He ran for touchdowns from one yard and 25 yards, and threw for touchdowns from 21, 30, and 55 yards.

“He’s such a cerebral quarterback,” said Rudder head coach Eric Ezar. “If they put the wrong defense in, then he just punishes them.”

Ezar highlighted Jessie’s ability to read and react to the defense, citing his 25-yard scramble for a touchdown and his 55-yard touchdown pass to Kayden Holmes as examples.

The Rangers’ dominance started early, scoring on their first possession with a one-yard touchdown run by Jessie. Rudder’s defense forced a three-and-out on Connally’s next drive, and a bad snap on the punt gave Rudder the ball on the Cougars’ six-yard line. Running back AJ Morrison then scored on a one-yard run.

Rudder added another touchdown just moments later after a Connally fumble. Jessie connected with wide receiver Jaquise Martin for a 21-yard touchdown.

Rudder’s defense also played a key role in the victory, recording three interceptions, including a pick-six by Denim Preston in the second quarter.

The Rangers’ next game will be at home against Nacogdoches on Friday night at 7:30 pm. Coach Ezar is confident in his team’s ability to continue their winning streak, stating, “To be 10-0 man, you got to be 3-0, so to be 10-0, you got to be 4-0.”
