Sat Sep 14 01:35:52 UTC 2024: ## Nationals Steal Victory Over Marlins, Even Series at 4-1

**Washington, D.C. -** The Washington Nationals secured a 4-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Friday night, evening their four-game series. The win was fueled by aggressive base-running, including two stolen bases and a run scored by Dylan Crews, as well as a home run from Luis Garcia Jr.

Rookie pitcher DJ Herz earned his fourth win of the season, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked one. Kyle Finnegan recorded his 37th save with a scoreless ninth inning. The Nationals stole five bases in the game, extending their record to 17-0 this season when stealing at least four bases.

Miami, on the other hand, suffered their fourth loss in the last five games. Otto Lopez hit a solo home run for the Marlins, while Xavier Edwards and Javier Sanoja each tallied two hits. Starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, who struck out nine batters, took the loss. He allowed two unearned runs on just one hit over six innings, but also committed two of the Marlins’ three errors.

The Nationals took a 2-0 lead in the first inning without a hit out of the infield. Crews, who earlier in the inning made a spectacular leaping catch at the right field wall to rob Connor Norby of an extra-base hit, reached base on a grounder to short and stole both second and third. Jose Tena then walked and stole second, setting the stage for Garcia’s ground ball to first. Cabrera, attempting to cover first, dropped the throw, allowing both Crews and Tena to score.

Miami cut the lead to 2-1 in the fourth inning when Lopez launched his fifth home run of the season. Washington added two more runs in the seventh inning, with Garcia’s 415-foot home run to right and a run-scoring single by Jacob Young.
