**Bamako, Mali** – Enyimba International FC, Nigeria’s two-time African champions, were held to a goalless draw by Etoile Filante in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round tie on Friday. Despite creating numerous chances, neither side managed to find the back of the net in a tightly contested match. Enyimba’s resolute defense ensured they left Bamako without conceding a goal, a crucial result heading into the second leg.
However, the Nigerian side will need to secure a victory in the return fixture to advance to the next round. The second leg is scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Enyimba’s rivals in the competition, El-kanemi Warriors, were eliminated in the first round by Beninoise club Dadje FC. The result puts the pressure on Enyimba to secure a win and avoid a similar fate.
