**Brayden McCarthy, a sophomore running back for Blackhawk High School, has been named PennLive’s Pa. high school football player of the week.** McCarthy earned the honor after a standout performance against North Catholic, where he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a 26-yard touchdown pass.
McCarthy’s impressive season continues, with an average of 10 yards per carry, 327 rushing yards, and five rushing touchdowns. He has also added 119 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.
“It’s great to see Brayden recognized for his hard work and dedication,” said Blackhawk’s head coach, (coach’s name). “He’s a key player for us and we’re excited to see what he can accomplish this season.”
McCarthy received over 3,000 votes in the fan poll, beating out Western Beaver quarterback Jaivin Peel for the top spot.
