**New Delhi, September 12, 2024:** In a heartwarming gesture, Indian para-javelin thrower Navdeep Singh presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a cap during a meeting with the Indian Paralympic contingent at the Prime Minister’s residence on Thursday.
The gesture came after Navdeep, who won a gold medal at the Paris Paralympics, received his medal upgraded from silver after the initial winner was disqualified. During the interaction, PM Modi signed Navdeep’s jacket, the left side of which is his throwing arm.
“A very touching gesture by my friend and India’s pride, Navdeep Singh,” PM Modi captioned the video on Instagram. He also asked Navdeep about a viral video of his triumph, inquiring about his aggressive performance. Navdeep responded by highlighting his commitment to fulfilling his promise to PM Modi after finishing fourth at the Tokyo Paralympics.
The meeting came as India celebrated its record-breaking performance at the Paris Paralympics. The contingent brought home 29 medals, including seven golds, nine silvers, and 13 bronzes, surpassing their previous record of 19 medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
