**Kharkiv, Ukraine** – Russian shelling in northeastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv region killed three people and injured nine on Thursday, regional prosecutors reported. The village of Borova, southeast of Kharkiv, was the site of the attack, which claimed the life of one person who succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The attack targeted emergency responders who were working at the scene of the initial shelling, resulting in the injury of three rescuers. Moscow’s forces then struck the same location again.

A separate Russian airstrike on Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi district left five people injured.

Across the border in Sumy region, Russian forces launched 57 attacks throughout the day, including an attack using glide bombs near the town of Yampil that killed one person.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, is a frequent target of Russian strikes. The ongoing fighting in the region highlights the continuing danger posed by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.
