Thu Sep 12 22:47:19 UTC 2024: ## Junior Doctors’ Protest in Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Offers to Resign in Frustration

**KOLKATA, INDIA** – Junior doctors in West Bengal are protesting following the brutal murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The doctors demanded a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, insisting on a live telecast of the discussion to ensure transparency. While the government agreed to the meeting, the doctors eventually backed out, citing the lack of live telecast.

The situation reached a boiling point when CM Banerjee, after waiting two hours for the doctors, announced her willingness to resign from her post. She expressed frustration over the ongoing social media campaigns targeting her government, calling it a political conspiracy.

“I am ready to resign from this post for the benefit of the people. I don’t need this position. I only want justice for Tilothama [the murdered doctor] and ensure people can access medical care,” stated CM Banerjee.

The doctors, however, remained firm on their demand for live telecast, citing the ongoing Supreme Court investigation into the case. While CM Banerjee assured the doctors that the meeting would be recorded and open to the press, they remained unconvinced.

The incident has left the state in a state of uncertainty. The doctors’ refusal to meet and CM Banerjee’s emotional outburst have sparked debate over the government’s handling of the situation.
