**MINERAL COUNTY, W.Va. (WV News)** – Football fans in Mineral County will have to wait another week for their Friday Night Lights fix as both Frankfort and Keyser high schools are enjoying a bye week this week.
The bye week comes as part of the West Virginia high school football schedule, which allows teams to have one week off during the 11-week regular season. This year, both Frankfort and Keyser happened to schedule their bye week during the same week.
While the two teams are enjoying a break, their records couldn’t be more different. Frankfort is currently undefeated at 2-0, while Keyser is still searching for their first win after a 0-2 start.
Despite their contrasting records, both teams are looking to build momentum heading into the latter part of the season. Frankfort will face Weir at home next week, hoping to continue their winning streak, while Keyser will look to finally secure a victory against Berkeley Springs.
This week provides an opportunity for both teams to rest, recover from injuries, and work on improving their game plans. The bye week will also allow coaches to implement new schemes and plays, as well as try out different players in different positions.
Frankfort, who are coming off a 56-21 victory over Hampshire, will be looking to avenge two losses against Weir from last season. Meanwhile, Keyser, despite a tough start to the season, showed improvement in their week two loss to Hedgesville and will be hoping to use the bye week to prepare for a familiar opponent in Berkeley Springs.
