**Owerri, Imo State** – The Imo State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of five kidnap suspects who have been terrorizing the Obinze, Avu, and Ihiagwa areas of the state. The arrests were made on August 21st, 2024, and are part of the police’s ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
The suspects, identified as Umaru Usman, Tukur Yau, Musbau Sabo, Abdul Ibrahim, and Jubrin Idris, were apprehended in Avu. They were linked to numerous kidnapping incidents in the aforementioned areas. In a separate operation, the police also rescued a kidnap victim.
In addition to the arrests of the kidnapping suspects, the Imo State Police Command also apprehended a suspected armed robber, Nwauba Alex, who was caught attempting to rob two residents at gunpoint near Aladinma Primary School in Owerri. One locally-made pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, and torches were recovered from the suspect.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, commended the efforts of the officers involved in the operations, emphasizing the commitment of the Imo State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. He urged residents to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely information on criminal activities in their communities.
