**LAGOS, NIGERIA -** Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, Executive Secretary of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, has called on universities and economics educators to cultivate innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among students to enhance Nigeria’s economic resilience.
Ajiboye made this call at the Seventh Annual National Conference of the International Association of Economics Educators, held at Lagos State University (LASU) in Lagos. The event focused on the theme “Economic Resilience: Navigating Global Challenges.”
Professor Ajiboye stressed the urgent need to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in Nigerian universities to revitalize the nation’s economy. He highlighted the critical role of economic resilience in a world facing unprecedented global challenges, including financial crises, pandemics, climate change, and technological disruptions.
“Economic resilience represents an economy’s ability to withstand shocks, adapt to disturbances, and recover quickly while maintaining sustained long-term growth,” Ajiboye stated. He emphasized the importance of nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among students to equip them with the skills needed to navigate these challenges and drive the Nigerian economy forward.
