Thu Sep 12 16:16:00 UTC 2024: ## Calax Governor’s Drive Interchange Construction Reaches 25% Completion, Set to Open in Q1 2025
**[City, Date]** – MPCALA Holdings Inc., the concessionaire for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax), has announced that the Governor’s Drive Interchange is now 25% complete and on track for a Q1 2025 opening. The interchange is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion on major Cavite roads and stimulate economic growth in the province.
The 7.8-kilometer segment, extending from the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to Governor’s Drive, will be the longest operational section of Calax by Q1 2025. Currently, excavation, bridge and drainage construction, and fencing installation are ongoing.
“We are dedicated to ensuring the timely completion of the Governor’s Drive Interchange,” said Raul Ignacio, MPCALA President and General Manager. “Once operational, this vital infrastructure will provide faster travel times for thousands of motorists, easing congestion and driving economic growth across Cavite and Calabarzon.”
Meanwhile, construction of two other key Calax segments – Subsection 2 (Open Canal Interchange) and Subsection 1 (Kawit Interchange) – is also progressing steadily, with completion rates at 15% and 25% respectively. Both are anticipated to open by Q3 2025 and will ultimately connect Calax to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) through the Cavitex-Calax Link.
The overall completion rate for the entire Calax project is currently at 64%. Upon completion, Calax is projected to serve over 95,000 motorists daily, up from its current 45,000. This substantial increase in capacity will significantly benefit commuters and businesses across the region.
