Fri Sep 13 14:26:58 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Walks Free: Supreme Court Grants Bail in Excise Policy Case, BJP Slammed

**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the alleged excise policy corruption case. The decision, which was met with jubilant celebrations by AAP supporters, was hailed as a “victory of the Constitution” by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.

Kejriwal, who spent four months in jail, was greeted by cheering crowds upon his release, with chants of “Kejriwal Zindabad” ringing out. He thanked his supporters for their unwavering support and vowed to continue fighting “anti-national forces” who he believes are working to divide the country.

The Supreme Court’s judgment, which was based on the grounds that Kejriwal had already been granted bail in the ED case, was seen as a major setback for the BJP. Several AAP leaders, including Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, condemned the BJP’s attempts to keep their leader in jail, accusing them of misusing government agencies for political gain.

“The BJP’s plans have been ruined,” Sunita Kejriwal stated, adding that the party only wants to jail opposition leaders to stay in power.

The Supreme Court’s observation that the CBI needs to dispel the notion of being a “caged parrot” was particularly significant. Many see this as a clear indication of the court’s disapproval of the agency’s alleged biased actions in the case.

While the BJP has maintained that Kejriwal remains an accused and that the charges against him have not been dropped, AAP leaders have celebrated the bail as a major victory, claiming that the BJP has been exposed for its politically motivated actions.

The developments are expected to have a significant impact on the upcoming Haryana elections, where the AAP is hoping to make inroads. Kejriwal’s release is seen as a major boost to their campaign.

The case, however, remains open, and the trial is expected to begin soon.
