Thu Sep 12 06:06:56 UTC 2024: ## BMW M5 Touring Gets Carbon Fiber Upgrades, But No Carbon Roof

The highly anticipated 2025 BMW M5 Touring, a powerful rival to the Audi RS6 Avant, is hitting the market with a hefty price tag and an even heftier curb weight of 5,530 pounds. To counteract the weight, BMW is offering a selection of carbon fiber upgrades through their M Performance Parts program.

These upgrades include a split front splitter, rear diffuser, and sill extensions, giving the wagon a more aggressive and imposing appearance. While side mirror caps are available in carbon fiber as a regular option, a carbon roof remains absent, much like the smaller M3 Touring.

The M Performance Parts extend beyond aesthetics, offering a carbon fiber fuel tank cap, along with side decals and an aramid roof antenna. Inside, the luxury touches continue with upgraded floor mats and a stylish M Performance-branded key cover.

Despite the availability of these upgrades, the M5 Touring’s base price of $122,675 is already substantial. BMW hasn’t yet disclosed the cost of the M Performance Parts, but they’re likely to add several thousand dollars to the final bill.

The arrival of the M5 Touring in the US could pave the way for the next generation M3 Touring to finally make its American debut. The current M3 Touring, despite its European success, never made it to the US due to high homologation costs.

With the M5 Touring now available, enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next-generation Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon, which is expected to be even more expensive than the BMW. The battle for dominance in the high-performance wagon segment is heating up, and consumers are sure to benefit from the resulting competition.
