**Mumbai, India** – The entertainment industry is in mourning following the tragic suicide of Anil Kuldip Mehta, father of model-actor Malaika Arora. Mehta, 65, died on Wednesday morning after reportedly jumping from the balcony of his family’s Bandra residence.

Sources revealed that Mehta made a distressed phone call to his daughters, Malaika and Amrita Arora, shortly before his death, expressing feelings of despair. “I’m sick and tired,” he told them, according to sources.

His wife, Joyce Polycarp, was home at the time and discovered his slippers in the living room around 9am. Upon finding him missing, she looked over the balcony railing and witnessed a security guard calling for help. It was then she realized the tragic nature of the situation, she reportedly told police.

Malaika Arora confirmed the news on Instagram with a heartfelt statement on behalf of the family. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta,” the statement read. “He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. A post-mortem examination is currently underway at Bhabha Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.
