**Mumbai, September 12** – Actor-model Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta, passed away on Wednesday after jumping from the sixth floor of his apartment building in Mumbai’s Bandra area. He was 62 years old.
According to police sources, Mehta jumped from Ayesha Manor in the Almeida Park area, where he resided with his wife. The incident occurred while Malaika’s mother was present in their apartment.
Mehta was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors. An autopsy conducted at Mumbai’s Bhabha Hospital revealed that the cause of death was multiple injuries.
Malaika Arora expressed her family’s grief on Instagram, saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock over this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time.”
The last rites for Mehta will be performed at a crematorium in Santacruz today.
