Rob Lowe, known for his roles in “The Outsiders” and “Parks and Recreation,” has found comedic success with his Netflix series “Unstable.” The show, which stars Lowe as a genius bio-research founder and his real-life son John Owen Lowe as his equally brilliant son, is entering its second season.
While Rob Lowe boasts of his comedic training under Mike Myers and Dana Carvey during his time on “Wayne’s World,” he admitted that John Owen Lowe still needs some work. The younger Lowe reportedly has a tendency to break character, resulting in unusable footage. “I got trained with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey at their height in Wayne’s World. And I destroyed a lot of takes in Wayne’s World. And I was like, ‘Okay, I got to get it together.’ So I pride myself – I do not break on camera anymore. But Johnny goes,” Rob Lowe told CinemaBlend.
Despite his penchant for breaking character, John Owen Lowe is proud of one moment on set: “In fact, I will say, I’m the only person I’ve seen on set make Fred break. And we have it on tape. … There’s a moment where (Fred’s character) attacks me with a physical object. And I think it’s just a noise that I made that he liked.”
While John Owen Lowe may need some more training, “Unstable” remains a comedic gem, showcasing the dynamic father-son duo and the hilarious Fred Armisen. Fans can enjoy the first two seasons of “Unstable” on Netflix now.
