Tue Sep 10 17:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Meghalaya Awaits Feasibility Report for Shillong Airport Expansion

**Shillong, Meghalaya:** The Meghalaya government is awaiting a feasibility report to determine if larger aircraft can land at the Shillong Airport. This report, expected by the end of October, is being prepared by a consultant hired by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, in charge of Transport, informed reporters that the government is eagerly awaiting the report’s findings. “We are hopeful that the report is in the positive direction,” Dhar said, highlighting the government’s concern about this issue.

The consultant will assess the feasibility of accommodating larger aircraft and, if deemed possible, will then develop a detailed project report (DPR). This DPR will outline the necessary land acquisition for expanding the airport.

The Meghalaya government believes expanding the airport will benefit the state by attracting more tourists and promoting economic growth.
