Eluru, Andhra Pradesh: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has pledged to provide compensation to all farmers, homeowners, and livestock owners who suffered losses due to recent floods in the state. The compensation will be disbursed before September 17, he assured.
Naidu, speaking at a review meeting in Eluru, promised a compensation of Rs 25,000 per hectare for lost paddy crops. He acknowledged the devastating impact of the floods, particularly on paddy farmers who had invested 70 days of work and resources into their crops, only to see them destroyed.
“We will enumerate all the losses with transparency and accountability,” Naidu stated. “I have witnessed the hardships firsthand, and I will ensure justice for everyone affected by the floods.”
Recognizing that 70% of paddy cultivators are tenant farmers, Naidu announced that the government will directly deposit input subsidies into their bank accounts.
Earlier on Wednesday, Naidu conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Eluru district. He later met with officials to assess the situation at Kolleru Lake, as well as the Upputeru and Tammileru rivulets.
