CNN’s Jake Tapper criticized both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris for dodging critical questions during Tuesday’s Republican and Democratic presidential debates, respectively.
Tapper pointed out that Harris, while evading questions about the border and Americans’ well-being, offered vague responses on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Trump, meanwhile, sidestepped queries on a potential abortion ban and the Ukraine-Russia war.
Tapper specifically condemned Trump’s “staggeringly absurd lie” about migrants in Springfield, Ohio eating cats and dogs, calling it “more than a little bit racist” and a “nuttiest subject” to arise in a presidential debate. He argued that such statements demonstrate Trump’s reliance on a “misinformation silo.”
Despite criticizing both candidates for lacking concrete answers on their policy stances, Tapper underscored Trump’s particularly egregious misstatements, notably his denial of any role in the January 6th Capitol riot.
