The iconic thief Carmen Sandiego is making her grand return to video games in 2025, this time as a playable character. The game, based on the popular Netflix series, will see players take on the role of Carmen as she battles the Villains’ International League of Evil (VILE), the organization she once belonged to.
Unlike the classic edutainment games of the past, this Carmen Sandiego adventure will focus on solving crimes and exploring cities. While retaining the core gameplay of its predecessors, the game will offer a more immersive experience with open world exploration. There will also be a “The Acme Files” mode, a classic nod to the original Carmen Sandiego games from the 1980s.
The game will launch on Netflix in Q1 2025, followed by a release on Switch and other consoles later in the same quarter. This new take on Carmen Sandiego promises to offer a fresh and exciting experience for both fans of the original series and newcomers to the franchise.
