**KNOXVILLE, TN** – The Tennessee Volunteers’ chances of making the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff have skyrocketed following their 2-0 start to the season, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI). The FPI projects a 65.3 percent chance of the Vols advancing to the playoff, a significant increase from their preseason projection of 36.9 percent.

The FPI also predicts Tennessee will finish with a 9.8-2.4 record, further bolstering their playoff aspirations. The Vols have a 9.1 percent chance of winning the SEC, a 13.9 percent chance of reaching the national championship game, and a 6.8 percent chance of claiming a national title.
