Mon Sep 09 15:37:52 UTC 2024: ## Chinese Washing Machine Company Faces $4.2 Million Loss After Employee’s Pricing Error

**Anhui, China** – A small Chinese company specializing in washing machines, Little Swan Dongshan Franchise Shop, is facing a potential $4.2 million loss after a single employee mistakenly labeled products with heavily discounted prices.

The incident occurred on August 28th, when the company’s Tmall online store experienced a 20-minute shopping spree due to the pricing error. During this time, over 40,000 orders for various washing machines were placed, resulting in a potential loss of 30 million yuan for the company.

The employee, who misunderstood the store’s preferential pricing system, accidentally applied significant discounts to several washing machine models. Some machines originally priced at 1,699 yuan were listed for only 299 yuan, while others originally priced at 2,499 yuan were listed for 439 yuan.

“Due to the misunderstanding, we made a significant mistake,” admitted the owner of Little Swan Dongshan Franchise Shop. “We recognize that this issue has caused confusion among the public and has seriously disrupted the market.”

The company has since apologized to affected customers and requested them to cancel their orders, offering full refunds. To further demonstrate the error’s unintentional nature, the company released a video of the responsible employee apologizing and expressing their inability to cover the losses.

Local market authorities are currently investigating the case. Legal experts have cautioned that Little Swan must present compelling evidence to prove the error was a genuine mistake. Otherwise, they may be forced to honor the thousands of orders, potentially leading to bankruptcy.
