Mon Sep 09 15:40:36 UTC 2024: ## Canyon and DT Swiss Team Up for New Gravel Suspension Fork

**Daun, Germany** – A new prototype gravel suspension fork, developed jointly by Canyon and DT Swiss, has been spotted at the German gravel nationals in Daun. The fork, seen on the bike of Canyon-sponsored athlete Peter Schermann, is a departure from traditional gravel fork designs and showcases a reverse arch design similar to Fox’s latest XC and gravel forks.

While details are scarce, it is believed that the fork offers 40mm of travel with 30mm stanchions, and features a remote lockout with either wireless or mechanical controls. The fork also includes an integrated cover on the fork crown, similar to DT Swiss’s 535 One all-mountain fork, and a cutout in the lower left leg for rebound damping adjustment.

The prototype, though not expected to be released soon, is likely being tested in real-world racing conditions for performance and durability data. DT Swiss has confirmed the fork is a co-development with Canyon and is currently under development.

“This is an exciting development in the gravel scene,” says Cory Benson, EU Tech Editor of Bikerumor.com. “The potential for a lightweight, high-performance suspension fork specifically designed for gravel could be a game-changer for riders seeking a more comfortable and capable ride.”

While some commentators have expressed concerns about the fork’s aesthetic integration into gravel bikes, others see it as a promising sign of innovation in the category. The collaboration between Canyon and DT Swiss points to a growing trend in the industry of specialized components tailored for gravel riding.

The development of this fork is a testament to the increasing demand for a more versatile gravel bike experience. It remains to be seen whether this prototype will evolve into a commercially available product, but it certainly sparks interest and anticipation within the gravel cycling community.
