Tue Sep 10 00:22:52 UTC 2024: ## Selena Gomez Opens Up About Motherhood Plans, Reveals Inability to Carry a Child Due to Medical Issues

Singer and actress Selena Gomez has revealed in a candid interview with Vanity Fair that she is unable to carry her own children due to medical complications. The 32-year-old star, known for her roles in “Only Murders in the Building” and her Disney beginnings, shared that she has been grappling with the realization that pregnancy would pose a significant risk to both her health and the fetus.

Gomez, who has been open about her struggles with lupus, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, did not specify the exact medical issue preventing her from carrying a child. However, she acknowledged the emotional toll of coming to terms with this reality, stating, “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

Despite the challenges, Gomez expressed excitement about exploring alternative pathways to motherhood, including adoption. She cited her own mother’s adoption as inspiration, noting, “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

Gomez, currently dating music producer Benny Blanco, remains hopeful about her future as a parent. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” she shared in the Vanity Fair interview.
