Mon Sep 09 14:49:56 UTC 2024: ## Russian Ministry Claims Heavy Ukrainian Losses in Kursk Region

**Moscow, Russia** – The Russian Defense Ministry has reported significant losses for Ukrainian forces in the Kursk Region, claiming that Kyiv has lost around 11,400 troops since launching an incursion into the region last month.

According to the ministry’s latest daily update, the Russian military has also destroyed over 1,000 units of Ukrainian military hardware, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and artillery pieces. Notably, the ministry claimed to have destroyed seven US-made HIMARS systems.

The ministry stated that Russian forces have repelled multiple Ukrainian attacks in the region and are continuing to push back Ukrainian troops from border territories.

In the past 24 hours alone, the ministry estimates that Ukraine has lost up to 240 servicemen and 13 units of military hardware.

The Russian military is also conducting reconnaissance and search operations to eliminate Ukrainian sabotage groups attempting to penetrate deeper into Russian territory.

Meanwhile, Russian troops, artillery, and aviation have been targeting Ukrainian positions in the region, including military concentrations and foreign mercenaries in the neighboring Sumy Region.

The incursion into Kursk Region, launched on August 6, was the largest attack on internationally recognized Russian territory since the start of the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv in February 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the liberation of Kursk Region as a “sacred duty” of the Russian military. He believes that Ukraine aimed to destabilize Moscow by targeting the region.

However, Putin insists that Russian forces have “stabilized the situation” and are pushing back Ukrainian troops while simultaneously advancing in other key areas of the front line.
