**CUPERTINO, CA** – Apple has revealed a new, subterranean building called “The Observatory” at its Apple Park campus, set to be used for launch events and showcasing the latest technology. The building, situated near the Steve Jobs Theater, will play a key role in today’s “It’s Glowtime” event, launching the highly anticipated iPhone 16.

The Observatory, a testament to Apple’s signature architectural style, features white stone, light wood, and large glass windows, offering breathtaking views of the campus greenery and surrounding mountains. Its distinctive round window, peeking out above the trees, resembles a “hobbit house,” according to John De Maio, Apple’s global head of design in real estate and development.

Inside, a circular entrance hall with a 9-foot-wide ceiling window allows natural light to flood the space. The main event room features ample seating, potted trees, and an open space designed for product demonstrations. Between events, the room will serve as a “space for contemplation.”

The Observatory’s location near the Steve Jobs Theater and its spacious interior suggest it will be used as an extension of the theater during launch events, particularly during hands-on segments where capacity often exceeds 1,000 attendees.

Consistent with Apple’s commitment to sustainability, The Observatory is powered by solar energy. For every tree removed during construction, Apple planted another. “Every decision, from the concrete to the air filtration system to rainwater capture, was made with the environment in mind,” said De Maio.

The Observatory marks another architectural milestone for Apple, showcasing its commitment to innovative design and sustainability. With its unique features and ideal location, it is poised to become a new hub for Apple’s future events and technological showcases.
