**Bengaluru:** Actor Darshan and 16 other accused in the murder case of Renukaswamy of Chitradurga had their judicial custody extended until September 12th. The decision was made by the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in Bengaluru.
The accused, currently lodged in various jails across Karnataka, were produced before the court via video conferencing on Monday, September 9th. The Public Prosecutor requested time to physically deliver copies of the charge sheet to the lawyers of all 17 accused. This was deemed necessary to avoid delays in the bail process given the accused’s dispersed locations.
The court granted the request and agreed to provide the charge sheet to the respective advocates upon the consent of the accused. The judge also sought information about the lawyers representing other accused, including Nandeesh, Raghavendra, Jagadish, and others.
Meanwhile, Darshan has filed an application at the High Court seeking an order to prevent the media from disclosing the contents of the charge sheet. Darshan’s lawyer argued that the charge sheet contains sensitive information regarding his client’s involvement in the case and details about the torture Renukaswamy endured. The lawyer requested the court to restrict the media from publishing these details.
