**SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2024** – Flux, a startup revolutionizing the way EV owners utilize their vehicles, has successfully connected its first customer to its Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) platform in Portland, OR. The platform utilizes the battery in the Ford F-150 Lightning to power a home during peak hours, resulting in up to 80% savings on electricity bills.
Flux’s system works by charging the EV during off-peak hours and then discharging it during peak hours, leveraging a two-way charger and its proprietary software. The company offers two subscription options: one where customers purchase the charger, and another where Flux covers the cost of the charger. In both cases, customers share in the electricity bill savings generated by their EV.
The company’s future plans include a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) platform that will allow EVs to provide services to local utilities, generating additional income for owners. Flux estimates that customers can achieve up to $12,000 in annual savings and income depending on their electricity usage and local energy market. The platform also provides power backup during outages, further adding to its appeal.
“Who would have ever thought you could power your entire home with your car?” said Kevin White, Chairman and COO of Flux. “With the Flux Subscription, your EV can now become an income-producing asset that backs up your home during a power outage, reduces your electricity bill, and provides services to your utility.”
Flux is now accepting pre-orders on its website, with deliveries expected in select markets in 2025. The platform is compatible with vehicles from Ford, GM, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Rivian, Volkswagen, and Tesla.
“We’re excited to complete this installation for our first customer and begin the pre-order process,” said Parsa Bakhtiari, CEO of Flux. “This is the next evolutionary step for EVs to gain mass adoption, where every car that rolls off the manufacturing line in the future is a bi-directional EV that can provide services to its owner and the local utility.”
Flux’s innovative approach to EV technology promises to transform the way we power our homes and manage our energy consumption, ushering in a future where electric vehicles play a central role in a sustainable energy ecosystem.
