**ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS -** Red Bull Racing, the dominant force in Formula 1 last year, is facing a crisis of confidence as their once unbeatable RB20 car struggles to match its early season form. Team Principal Christian Horner has attributed the decline to overcomplicating the car’s development, leading to an imbalance that has left drivers struggling to find a sweet spot.

“There’s a balance issue with the car that isn’t allowing the drivers to commit to corner entry,” Horner said after the Italian Grand Prix. “So as soon as you calm down the rear, you compromise the front. So then you end up with understeer, and then you kill your tyre that way.”

Horner suggested the team might need to simplify their approach, taking inspiration from McLaren, who have developed a car that appears to be an evolution of last year’s model. “Perhaps we’ve gone a little too complex and perhaps we need to simplify a few things,” he admitted.

The struggles come at a crucial juncture for Red Bull. They hold a narrow lead in the Constructors’ Championship, with McLaren hot on their heels. Max Verstappen, the reigning World Champion, has also seen his dominance fade, with no wins in the last six races. His last victory came in Spain back in June.

Verstappen has repeatedly expressed his frustration with the car’s lack of balance, an issue first highlighted in Miami back in May. He warned the team that drastic changes are needed to regain their competitiveness. “It’s up to the team to come with a lot of changes with the car,” Verstappen said. “Because we basically went from a very dominant car to an undriveable car in the space of, what, six to eight months?”

Despite introducing upgrades at almost every race since May, Red Bull have yet to find a solution. They are now facing a race against time to address the car’s issues with McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari consistently pushing the boundaries of performance.

With the season entering its final stages, Red Bull will need to find answers quickly to avoid seeing their championship dreams slip away. Whether they can simplify the car and regain their dominance remains to be seen.
