**New York -** Brent crude oil futures plummeted to their lowest point since December 2021, falling below $US69 a barrel on Wednesday. The decline was attributed to a combination of factors including robust oil supplies, growing demand concerns, and aggressive speculative selling.

As of 3.27pm in New York, the global benchmark for crude oil was down 3.3% to $US69.46 a barrel. Earlier in the trading session, it dipped below $US69. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also experienced a sharp drop, falling 3.9% to $US66.05 after a decline of over 4.5%.

The decline in oil prices marks a significant shift in the market, highlighting concerns over future demand and a potential oversupply of crude oil.
