**ELKHART, IN -** Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is demanding the firing of a Miami-Dade police officer involved in his controversial traffic stop last Sunday. Hill claims the officer used excessive force, escalating the situation unnecessarily.
The incident, captured on police bodycam footage, shows officers pulling Hill over for a traffic violation. After refusing to roll down his windows, Hill was forcibly removed from his car, thrown to the ground, and handcuffed.
Hill’s lawyer, Julius Collins, released a statement demanding the officer’s immediate termination, citing the officer’s “excessive, escalating, and reckless” use of force. Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, echoed these sentiments, calling the officer’s actions “horrendous” and advocating for his dismissal.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has placed the officer, identified as Danny Torres, on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation. Torres’ attorneys have requested his immediate reinstatement, stating that he will not comment until the investigation is complete.
Hill, who received citations for reckless driving and driving without a license, is scheduled to speak publicly about the incident on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) has awarded a $4,405 Library Innovation Research Grant to be coordinated by Karl Stutzman, director of Library Services at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
This grant will support the project, “Information Literacy Assessment of Religious Leaders,” a news release stated.
