**Washington, D.C. – September 9, 2024** – The MissionSquare Retirement Memorial Scholarship Fund has announced the awarding of over $100,000 in scholarships to 51 surviving children and spouses of public sector employees who died in the line of duty. This year’s funding increase will allow more students to pursue their academic goals and ease the financial burden on these families.

“We are proud to support the educational pursuits of families who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” stated Deanna J. Santana, President of the MissionSquare Scholarship Fund. “By increasing our scholarship funding, we invest in the success of their loved ones and honor their sacrifices.”

Since its inception in 2001, the Memorial Scholarship Fund has granted over $1.5 million to more than 600 students across the country. Recipients are selected based on their financial need, academic success, leadership, honors, and work experience.

The scholarships are managed in partnership with Scholarship America, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), and Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (COPS).

The MissionSquare Retirement Memorial Scholarship Fund extends its gratitude to all partners and donors whose contributions make this impactful program possible. The organization is committed to continuing to provide support to families of fallen public servants and hopes to reach even more students in the future.
