Former Girls frontman Christopher Owens has shared a new song, “This Is My Guitar,” ahead of his upcoming solo album, *I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair*, due out October 18th on True Panther.
The song, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Jacob Portrait, is a poignant acoustic track that reflects on the challenges of finding hope amidst hardship. The lyrics, “I know it’s hard not to feel like you’ve been broken when so much love is missing from the start,” evoke a sense of vulnerability and longing. Owens’ voice, raw and emotive, carries the weight of his experiences, including bouts with homelessness, a motorcycle accident, and the death of his Girls partner Chet “JR” White.
Owens has also shared a solo acoustic video performance of the song, showcasing the song’s raw emotional core.
*I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair* promises to be a deeply personal and introspective work, drawing from Owens’ challenging life experiences. The release marks his first solo album in nine years, following his 2014 album *A New Testament*.
